4th May 2015: ‘The Politics of Ugliness’

Ahead of the general election, I wrote a piece on the media’s treatment of Ed Milliband’s imperfections, placing it in the context of the art world, with comparisons with several famous paintings depicting physical ‘imperfections’.

The article actually inspired my new blog, picturepolitics.wordpress.com, which looks at the relationship between art and politics. It also features some of my own art work. Check it out!

16th February 2015: ‘A black and white issue’

This feature was inspired by a black and photograph from the 1950s portraying sexual harassment on the streets of Italy. It features student interviews and references to Dapper Laughs, the ‘Slap her’ viral video, and the response to a past blog of mine for the Guardian on drinks spiking.

Here’s the link to the online version (which appeared later).
